Female narcissists are more likely to portray the victim or martyr. They may even sacrifice more than what is required or appear to offer more than is necessary to gain attention and admiration from those around them. They are convinced that their agony is worse than anyone else’s and that they suffer more. They expect you to be aware of their distress and understand that they require assistance. Martyrs are empathetic and adored, which is precisely what narcissists need. They also like the power and attention that being a victim provides. Anything helpful, friendly, generous, or seemingly selfless will be brought up once the devaluation begins. You’ll be continually reminded of how in debt you are to this female narcissist and how they only did these things to assist you and be kind to you, making you feel terrible and ungrateful.
