2. Their Lies and Deceptions
Discovering the extent of their dishonesty and deceit can be a painful awakening. Narcissists are masters of manipulation and deceit. As you begin to wake up after the relationship ends, you’ll start to see that much of it was a facade. You’ll uncover many lies, which can range from minor fabrications to significant deceptions about who they are, their past relationships, sexual activities, or finances—essentially, it could be about anything. This realization can be disorienting and damaging, as it reveals how distorted your reality had become due to their lies and deceptions.
3. You Are Easy to Replace
One of the most disheartening lessons from a relationship with a narcissist is realizing how quickly and easily they can move on to someone else. They were never truly committed to you, and there was no genuine emotional investment on their part. It was all surface-level love-bombing to get you addicted to them so you would serve and submit to their needs. Narcissists have a constant craving for admiration and control, driving them to seek new sources of supply when a relationship becomes less gratifying or when controlling their partner becomes too challenging or takes too much effort. In today’s world, with dating apps and social media, they often have endless sources of supply, showing just how disposable you are to them.

If you had any knowledge of it, you were probably thinking of the grandiose narcissist—someone who is overly confident, boastful, and constantly seeking admiration in very obvious ways. You were probably unaware of covert narcissism and the complexity of this disorder, as well as the different forms of psychological manipulation and abuse they can unleash on their victims. Now, you’re likely learning everything there is to know about narcissists and their behaviors, and it’s introduced you to a whole new world—one you probably wish you had never uncovered.
