It’s not uncommon for narcissists to exaggerate how much money they make compared to others. They do this so everyone else around them feels less than them. Narcissists will tell you they live in a big house and drive luxury cars when in reality, they’re living in a small apartment and driving an old car. They also lie about their financial situation, especially when avoiding an awkward situation. They’ll tell you they’re on the verge of bankruptcy or that their account is overdrawn so they can avoid paying for dinner or a movie.

Number 5: Narcissists Lie When They Say, “I Love You.”

Narcissists lie when they say “I love you” because they don’t actually love anyone. They just crave attention and validation from other people, so they pretend to care about others to get more attention and validation. Narcissists aren’t capable of love; they’re only capable of caring about themselves and their own needs. They will say anything to get what they want from someone else, even pretending to be in love with them. So if someone says “I love you,” take it with a grain of salt and ask yourself: is this person trying to get something from me? If so, what is it? Is this person manipulative? If so, how?
