14: relentlessly finger tapping and foot shaking. Even when the house is quiet, they make annoying little noises—not out of anxiety, of course. They tap their fingers hard on the table. They click a pan over and over again. This is not OCD.

They shake their foot so hard the floor vibrates. These noises fill a quiet air. It keeps you from thinking clearly. The constant tapping keeps the whole room feeling nervous and tense. It is like a ticking clock in your ear. It drains your energy slowly over time.

15: slamming car doors and revving the engine. Their noise control starts before they even enter the house. When they pull into the driveway, they rev the car engine loudly. When they get out, they slam the corridor as hard as they can.

This loud boom is a signal. It puts the whole house on high alert. You hear the corridor and you know the piece is over. You quickly try to clean up or look busy to avoid getting yelled at when they walk inside.

16: dropping heavy items onto glass tables. They love to create sudden jump scares. When they walk in, they will drop their heavy keys, their phone, or a heavy bag right onto a hard table. The loud smack makes you jump in surprise.

The loud slamming breaks the quiet. They’re just making noise like an angry toddler. They are waiting for you to say something so they can start a big argument. They want you to take the bait so they can attack you.
