It will feel like an alternate universe. You will see a reptilian-like individual with no empathy whatsoever for you. You will try to search for the person you fell in love with—the person who kissed you before going to sleep every single night, the person who wrote you those letters, the person who promised they would never leave you, the person who went to couples’ therapy to change, the person who did things to give you false hope—but you won’t find them anywhere. They will be the opposite. They will be callous, cold, and disinterested in your pain. They will just ask and ask and ask. That’s what they have been doing, but now they’ll do it more overtly. They will come after everything: custody, finances, your assets, your business. You have to save them at any cost because they are going to fight you real hard.
Scary Change Number Three: They Will Shamelessly Involve Their Other Sources of Supply
Now they will openly, quite shamelessly, involve their other sources of supply—their new partner, the replacement who is now better than you, according to the narcissist. All the years of hard work that you have put into the relationship aren’t counted. Your sacrifices for your children and family are not taken into consideration. This new person, who is seemingly better than you, is now used to triangulate and poison your children against you because the narcissist has fed them the story that they are the victim. This new supply justifies the narcissist’s behavior and may openly say things to your children like, “Your mother or father does not want you to have a relationship with your other parent, but I want you to know they love you in their own way.” This story, made of lies, paints you as the perpetrator and the alienator. They will involve these people and others who will take their side without trying to analyze the situation or ask questions that could reveal the narcissist’s true nature.
