Adaptability is crucial for any person to live peacefully with others, be it family, partners, or society. But narcissists are not adaptable. They seek perfection in everyone they meet, and when others fall short of their unrealistic standards, the narcissist begins to devalue them. Narcissists cannot form genuine connections because, in their minds, no one is perfect. They might idealize someone initially, but once they see the human flaws, they quickly discard that person. Narcissists are perfectionists and rigid in their expectations, setting impossible standards that constantly shift, leaving others feeling like they’re chasing a moving target. This lack of adaptability makes them extremely fragile, despite their belief in their own omnipotence. Small changes can make a narcissist fall apart.
3. Being authentic:
Narcissists cannot be authentic because their entire existence is built on a false self. They believe they are someone they are not, and their reality is based on lies. Narcissists change their persona depending on who they are with and what they want to achieve. They are shape-shifters, chameleons, and shadows. They do not have genuine likes or dislikes; instead, they copy others’ preferences to gain admiration or fit into certain social circles. This constant need for validation makes their lives inauthentic. They lack character and a clear set of values, driven by the desire to manipulate and exploit others.
