You need to be unpredictable—on purpose. Narcissists thrive on your predictable behavior. When they act, they expect a specific outcome, such as occupying your mental space or eliciting a reaction.
Don’t give them what they expect. Stay calm and vague, leaving situations open for interpretation. This forces them to project their fears, exposing their delusional thinking.
In their presence, adjust your body language and demeanor. Stay flat-faced, limit eye contact, and keep your body relaxed. This unpredictability will confuse them, potentially leading to outbursts you can document as evidence of their impulsivity and impaired judgment.
Move 3: Keep Your Purpose Hidden
Always keep the purpose behind your actions hidden. Narcissists despise seeing you at peace. If you openly share your goals, they’ll use that information against you.
For instance, if your purpose is to co-parent peacefully, presenting it as mutually beneficial for them might be the only way forward. Frame decisions to appeal to their ego, ensuring they believe they stand to gain something.
Never show how their actions benefit or harm you. If they see an opportunity to gain sadistic satisfaction, they’ll exploit it.
