You need to act numb and inhuman in every situation because of the extreme emotional volatility. Sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re bad. How can you survive this emotional roller coaster? You can’t. So, stay stable, let go, and become like a tree.
5. Accept Their Reality as the Truth
To keep a narcissist happy, you have to accept their interpretation of events as the truth and completely deny your own understanding of reality. If they tell you North is South, when you know it’s North, you have to accept it. If they say the sky is green, you cannot argue that it’s blue because, in their mind, you’re wrong. You may have a brain, but you can’t have a mind. Accept their reality as your reality. Resistance will only make things worse.
You must let them penetrate deep into your psyche, becoming the only voice that guides your behavior and informs your decision-making process. If they tell you it’s your fault, you must immediately take responsibility and do everything you can to fix the situation. If they tell you they didn’t do anything wrong—or if they did, it was because of you—accept it. If they cheated, it was because you weren’t available. Accept it and try to be more available.
