Envy is something that anyone can be guilty of not just Narcissists. Envy is a painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another combined with a desire to possess the same advantage. Harboring the emotion of envy can cause someone to hate, lie, gossip, cheat, steal even murder. When the Narcissist comes across someone, they claim to admire they aim to strike up some sort of relationship with them. This can end up being a romantic relationship, a friendship, or a working relationship.
They will want to spend an inordinate amount of time with you and try to get close to you. When a Narcissist envies someone they tend to want to get close to them. They want to learn as much about them as they can. And because they are not happy people and want to make others miserable, they always have something shady to say about someone else.
