The word “karma” is often thrown around, so let me quickly define it. Karma originates from Hinduism, but in general Western terminology, it simply refers to the good or bad luck that arises as a result of one’s actions. Karma can be good or bad, depending on the nature of those actions.
When it comes to narcissists, I think we can all agree they are bad news—evil, even. So, when and how does their bad karma catch up with them? When will they experience the hurt and pain they’ve inflicted on others?
As tempting as it may be to punish them ourselves, it’s not worth getting our hands dirty. The truth is, unless narcissists radically change their path (which is rare), they’re already doomed. There’s nothing they can do to stop their inevitable downfall. Their karma is inbuilt—they are like ticking time bombs waiting to explode. The longer they persist in their narcissistic behaviors, the worse things become for them.
Narcissists find life difficult and often contemplate suicide. For covert narcissists, this doesn’t align with their image, so they talk themselves out of it. However, if faced with the choice of being exposed to the world or ending their life, they’d often choose the latter to avoid their carefully constructed reputation being dragged through the mud.
