Mirroring is not always bad. Someone can decide to copy you because they genuinely like or admire you, and they would not hesitate to credit you for being their inspiration. On the other hand, narcissists do not admire; they only envy. Narcissists mirror people they envy, and because they are so insecure within themselves, it is an automatic reaction for them to copy traits and other attributes from people they deem favorable. However, this can become very destructive, as the narcissist not only ends up copying you but also wants to eliminate these same traits from you.
Today, I want to go over the different things narcissists tend to mirror or copy, and how you can spot if it is happening to you. What a narcissist decides to mirror depends on what they are trying to accomplish. It could be to gain more attention or admiration. It can be used to love-bomb someone in order to form a quick bond, or it could simply be to compete or outdo someone else.
