The second message is, “You don’t control me.” The Narcissist usually wants to dictate which relationships they maintain. By going No Contact or ignoring them, you assert that you decide who is in your life—it is not their choice. You show them that you call the shots and are not waiting for them.
The third message you send is, “You do not matter.” Narcissists want to feel relevant and need you to tolerate their behavior. When you ignore or go No Contact, you make it clear that their treatment of you is unacceptable and that they are not as important as they think.
The final and most powerful message is that you have escaped them. You are one of the fortunate ones who saw through their lies, manipulations, and abuse. The Narcissist will never forget those who turn their backs on them, and you will always be etched in their memory as someone they can no longer manipulate.
