A narcissist spends most of their life running away from the consequences of their actions, believing this escape will last forever. In doing so, they become accustomed to being extremely arrogant and walking over other people, never thinking for a second about how their actions impact others. As long as it does not affect them, it’s none of their concern, none of their business. But when the direction of the winds changes, when the universe and situations force them to face the consequences of their actions for the first time, they are hit at a core level. They’re left feeling jeopardized, shaking, and trembling, not understanding what the hell happened.
Their false reality, their delusional understanding that they do not have to take responsibility because nobody is powerful enough to hold them accountable, suddenly shifts and is completely challenged. Then they do things that expose them further. That’s what we are going to talk about today. I’m Danish, a narcissistic abuse recovery professional. Welcome to my channel. The topic for today is what happens when a narcissist faces consequences for their actions for the first time. To understand it better, we need to examine how narcissists typically function in the world.
Narcissists leave destruction in their wake, convinced it will never catch up with them. They have built their entire existence on the assumption that they are untouchable, invincible, and that their actions exist in a vacuum where only their needs matter. They have never had to develop genuine empathy or consider how their behavior affects others because they have never been forced to face the music, right? To face the heat. This creates a dangerous cycle where they become increasingly detached from reality—more entitled, more grandiose, and more destructive with each passing day.
