As time goes on, they will shift their focus. They will start looking for new people, seeking new validation. After a grudging acceptance that you’re not coming back, they may develop resentment towards you, thinking, “You deserve everything you get.”
But remember, this resentment is only temporary. They will likely come back, and the hoovering will continue.
I know that reaching this point has been incredibly challenging for you, but I assure you, you’ve done the best thing you can do for yourself. You’re on the right track, and you will get through this. Yes, you may hear from them again, but focus on your recovery and put yourself first.
