Will they ever admit what they’ve lost? Sure, they might look back and realize it, but don’t hold your breath for an apology. In their eyes, they’re superior to you, and everything’s your fault anyway. And let’s talk about apologies. How often did they genuinely say “sorry”? How many times did they promise to change but went right back to their old ways? You poured your heart and soul into the relationship, but they just took and took without a second thought. Remember how things were at the start—fast-paced and intense? That’s because they needed to hook you in. But as time went on, they became slower in responding, leaving you hanging. Turns out, they were probably busy with other victims, playing the same game they played with you.
And those one-word replies? If any at all, that’s because they were moving on to their next target. They’ve got a whole cycle of manipulation going on, and unfortunately, you were just one stop on their twisted merry-go-round. Eventually, though, their true colors will show, and people will catch on. Their toxic behavior will ruin relationships left and right, and they’ll be left with nothing but the mess they’ve created. It’s a vicious cycle, but hey, at least you’re out of it.
You may wonder why some people don’t recognize they’re dealing with a narcissist. Well, there are a couple of reasons for that. First, they might know but fear becoming the next target if they speak up, or second, they simply haven’t spent enough time with the narcissist to see their true nature. It’s that straightforward. The abuse often occurs in private moments, like when you’re alone with the narcissist. That’s when their mask slips, revealing their true monstrous behavior. But in public, they’re all smiles and charm, keen on upholding their facade as a great person while using you as their emotional, spiritual, and financial punching bag.
