Reason 4: Feeling Powerful by Making You Lose It
Narcissists feel powerful when they make you lose it. Their entire life is about feeling powerful because, in reality, they feel powerless. That’s their truth, but they don’t want to acknowledge it, nor do they want you to see it. When they trigger your reactions, when they fight with you, when they watch you cry because of them, they feel powerful. It’s as if they tell themselves, “See, this is how capable I am. I was able to do it.” That’s how pathetic, insignificant, and powerless they truly are. In their minds, they are the winner, the person they delusionally believe themselves to be. They need constant validation and proof of their false identity, which these mind games provide.
Reason 5: Making You Lose in All Areas of Life
Finally, narcissists want you to lose in all areas of your life. They create self-doubt, destroy your self-confidence, and shatter your self-esteem into millions of pieces. They fill you with doubt: “Can I do this? Maybe I don’t know how to deal with life. Maybe I need to consult others. Maybe I need constant validation.” They make you extremely dependent on others for confirmation. They like having that power over you, watching as you go from a confident individual to someone who is utterly dependent on them. They want you to collapse because, in your collapse, they rise. If that’s not evil, I don’t know what is.
