  • Spending your money without your knowledge.
  • Withholding necessities or refusing to pay bills.
  • Harassing you at work or sabotaging your professional responsibilities.
  • Living in your home without contributing financially.
  • Controlling all financial decisions and requiring you to justify every expense.
  • Making you beg for money or limiting access to joint bank accounts.
  • Draining accounts or opening credit cards in your name without permission.
  • Pressuring you to quit your job or sabotaging your career aspirations.
  • Failing to pay child support or leaving you with unpaid debts.
  • Belittling your professional accomplishments.

Narcissists may also exploit the legal system to financially ruin their victims, taking them to court repeatedly to drain their resources. They might sabotage your confidence in pursuing education or a new career, ensuring you remain dependent on them.

From my own experience growing up, my father controlled all the finances, which allowed him to exert power and abuse us without consequences. This financial dependence silenced any resistance, as we feared losing access to basic needs. Narcissists also use tactics like procrastination or avoidance when asked for financial help, all to escape accountability.
