Narcissists don’t have true friends, only enablers, and even those relationships are sabotaged. They’ll be kind to your face, gathering information, only to laugh at you behind your back. Eventually, their gossip alienates everyone, leaving them isolated. Then, they play the victim, lamenting how everyone leaves them, without acknowledging their own role in pushing people away.
7. They create fake emergencies.
Narcissists manufacture crises to get attention or punish you. Remember the story of the boy who cried wolf? A narcissist will fake emergencies—claiming to be having a heart attack or other dire situations—to get you to drop everything and come running. But when the real emergency strikes, no one is there because people have grown tired of the constant false alarms. Narcissists also create fake problems in social situations to make themselves the center of attention, showing no concern for the damage this does to their relationships.
