The Dangerous Type of Narcissist No One Talks About (Not Covert or Psychopathic)
Unsuccessful narcissists are often the most dangerous and can destroy the most families and lives.
One of the biggest mistakes people make is believing that the most dangerous narcissist is the rich, affluent, powerful, or highly successful one. In reality, one of the most destructive, damaging narcissists is often the unsuccessful one.
An unsuccessful narcissist lives with a constant sense of inferiority. They may never admit it, and they do everything they can to hide it. But deep inside, they feel smaller than the people around them—especially you. Instead of building themselves up, they try to pull other people down to their level. Making you feel worthless becomes the only way they can feel important.
You may see more arrogance, entitlement, attitude, and unnecessary demands in an unsuccessful narcissist than in someone who is genuinely wealthy or accomplished. They behave as if the world owes them respect, comfort, and special treatment. Even though they have done little to earn it, their ego can be enormous—while their achievements are painfully small because they lack purpose, discipline, or a meaningful work life. They often have too much unstructured time, and an empty mind can breed resentment, fantasy, envy, and destructive behavior.
Instead of using that time to improve themselves, they may become consumed by envy, animosity, jealousy, unhealthy obsessions, attention-seeking, flirting, and the search for new people who can temporarily feed their ego. This is also why many unsuccessful narcissists become chronic cheaters. They are not always cheating because they found someone “better.” Often, they cheat because betrayal gives them a temporary feeling of power that cannot be felt through stability or respect. They may deliberately pursue talented, attractive, or successful people, sleep with them, manipulate them, and then use those encounters to make their partner feel inferior.
