Narcissists orchestrate every environment they enter. They thrive on manipulating the emotional temperature of the room. If they want to create chaos, they expect you to panic. If they tell a manufactured story to look like a hero, they expect you to applaud.

If they play the victim, they expect you to rush in and soothe them. They rely entirely on these artificial reactions to make their delusion seem believable. But you do not play by those rules, do you?

When they throw a tantrum, you do not feed it with your fear. You remain completely grounded. And that’s exactly what you learn to do when you don’t respond right away.

When they fish for compliments, you do not stroke their ego because you know what they’re actually seeking. You do not acknowledge their fake grandiosity because you have the power of discernment. You can see through their mask.

Your genuine, unforced reactions act like a massive roadblock to their manipulation. They hate you because they cannot push your buttons to get the specific reaction they need.
