Proof Narcissists Hate Their Children (My Lived Experience)
This twisted role reversal happens because a narcissist does not possess the basic internal wiring required to view a child as a separate human being. To a narcissist, you do not have your own soul, your own heart, your own mind, or your own destiny. You are treated merely as an extension of their personal identity—nothing more than an extra limb attached to their body or a puppet in their private dollhouse. They pull the strings, and you are expected to dance on cue.
Whatever you do with your life must revolve completely around feeding their vanity. The narcissist believes only they have the right to write your entire life script: what subjects you should study in school, what career path you choose, what clothes you wear, the friends you keep, and even the person you fall in love with. Every choice must be engineered to make the narcissist look good to the outside world.
If your achievements bring positive attention, they take the credit. But the second you dare to have an independent thought, set a personal boundary, or pursue a dream that does not center on praising them, they treat your individuality as a criminal betrayal. They will shame you, guilt-trip you, and tear you down. Why? Because in their mind, an extension of themselves has no right to an independent pulse.
