Narcissists are driven by an obsessive need to outdo everyone around them. For them, it’s not about achieving success—it’s about winning at all costs. The idea that you might be further along in life, or know something they don’t, is unbearable to them.
Instead of admiring your success or taking inspiration from it, they engage in a silent, obsessive competition. They mimic your actions, words, and even your essence, trying to make it seem like their own. If you call them out, they’ll claim, “Oh, I was just showing you how it’s done,” as if they were teaching you all along.
3. Revenge Campaigns: Retaliation at Any Cost
Once you expose or cut off a narcissist, they feel wounded to the core. Wounded egos seek revenge. They’ll go to great lengths to assassinate your character, spreading lies or manipulating others to turn against you.
For example, a narcissistic parent may project an image of being a concerned parent while painting you as unstable or irresponsible. Whether through overt lies or subtle insinuations, the goal is the same: bring you down.
