Narcissist Does these 7 Things BEFORE Destroying you
When a narcissist knows they can no longer access your energy or get you to engage with them normally, they will use a highly manipulative tactic to force you back into the ring. They will suddenly accuse you of something so wild, backwards, and deeply offensive to your character that it completely shocks your system.
They may claim you stole from them, that you are sabotaging their career, or that you are secretly plotting to harm them. These accusations are completely divorced from reality.
But that is the point. They throw these toxic smoke bombs purely to trigger your survival instinct. They know that your immediate reaction will be to scream, write long paragraphs defending yourself, or attack them back to clear your name.
The moment you break your silence to explain yourself, they have won. They have successfully dragged you back into their mud, using your natural desire for fairness to keep you trapped in their web.
Chapter 7: Sign Four—Blanket Statements
Number four: they drop random, absolute blanket statements to clear their hands before launching the attack. Right before the hammer falls, and the narcissist initiates their destructive plan, they will often say something completely unexpected and sweeping.
Out of nowhere, they will drop an absolute, freezing statement that feels like a final sign-off. They may send a text saying, “I just hope you find peace in life no matter what happens.” Or, “Everyone has to make hard choices at the end of the day.”
On the surface, it may sound like a moment of maturity or closure, but it is actually a cold psychological maneuver. They’re signing a waiver in their own mind. They drop these blanket phrases so they can completely wash their hands of any guilt for the fires they are about to start.
They tell themselves that because they offered that one polite, sweeping statement, they are completely innocent. And that allows them to destroy your life just five minutes later—with a completely clear conscience.
