5 Insane Lies Narcissists Tell Themselves to Survive Their Own Collapse

When you watch a narcissist hit rock bottom, it’s easy to think, “Okay, it’s over. They have no power left.” You see their life fall apart, their masks slip, and you think they’re finally defeated.

But what if I told you that a narcissist does not know how to stay down? The concept of accepting defeat and owning their mistakes simply does not exist in their twisted mind. As you know, when their world shatters, they do not face the truth. Instead, they start lying to themselves to justify the unjustifiable.

They scramble to bring themselves back from the dead. They build a temporary pseudo-life—a complete, made-up world of fake success and happiness—just to convince themselves they are still a god. And they use this fake, temporary life to gather energy so they can try to destroy you. Today, we are exposing the sick lies they tell themselves to stay alive when they are totally collapsed.

To understand what happens when a narcissist’s life crashes, you have to realize that they are allergic to the truth. A normal person makes a mistake, feels bad about it, and tries to do better. A narcissist makes a mistake, ruins their own life, and then completely rewrites history. When their life collapses, they look at the broken pieces on the floor, and their brain panics. They cannot look in the mirror and say, “I did this. I drove away the best person in my life.” So, they become the director of a fake movie in their own head. They invent a totally upside-down story to survive.

The first lie they tell themselves: you brought a dark cloud into their life. When their life is a mess, they refuse to take the blame. Instead, they tell themselves that you somehow poisoned them. They actually sit there and convince themselves that you were a dark evil force that plotted against them from the very beginning. They will tell themselves, “My life was great before I met this person.” They came into my life, brought bad luck, and ruined everything. They treat you like you’re the villain in a comic book. They believe you tricked them, stole their energy, and set up a trap to make them pale.
