They might even reach out with a peace offering right when you’re at your lowest. This is the Hoover. They want to see if the pain they’ve caused has made you desperate enough to come back.
“I hate seeing you like this,” they might say—conveniently ignoring that they are the architect of your misery. Do not take the bait. The help they offer is just another set of handcuffs.
The most honest consequence of you becoming strong is the total death of the relationship. Not just the physical end, but the death of the illusion.
