When You Vanish On the Covert Narcissist…They Do THIS

And this might be when a narcissist reaches out from another number. Narcissists always have multiple numbers. They may have a second phone or a backup—possibly even a fake number. You might get a text from them. Or they might play games: they’ll text you from another number and pretend they’re a stranger. They might message something like, “Hey, baby, how you been?” They’ll hope you respond—or they’ll hope you ask, “Who is that?” Or they may hope that you reach out so they can break the silence and communicate with you again.

They also like to hoover you around your birthday and holidays. They’ll send a “Happy Birthday” text or “Happy Holidays” message to try to restart communication, so you start talking again.

So you better hope that when you vanish on that narcissist, they find someone else and get busy with somebody else—because there’s nothing worse than having a narcissist who won’t let go of you. A lot of people are dealing with this. They’re dealing with narcissists who won’t leave them alone because the narcissist is obsessed with their supply. They need their supply. When a narcissist can’t leave you alone, it’s because they really, really need your supply—or they’re obsessed with you and they want to hurt you. They don’t want to let you go. They don’t want you to have your freedom. They want to slowly destroy you.

When you vanish on the narcissist, they’ll play it cool at first. They won’t chase you right away because they don’t want to give you that satisfaction. But once they realize you’re not coming back—and they need you—they may hoover you, use flying monkeys, or reach out to you in some way.

And if they have no luck with any of that—if you don’t respond to any of it—then they’ll move on. They’ll find another ex. They’ll hoover another ex. Understand: they don’t just hoover you—they hoover all their exes. That’s one of the main reasons narcissists have multiple supply: they know if one drops off, they always have backups to fall back on.

That’s how the narcissist acts when you vanish on them.
