5 Reasons Why a Narcissist Likes It When You Lose It

Narcissists are merchants of chaos and instability. They can’t let you be at peace because they themselves cannot find peace. Why? Because whenever there is peace in the external environment, the noise inside them—suppressed emotions like shame, unresolved trauma, and ego conflicts—starts getting louder. They can’t stand that. It engulfs them. To balance their internal chaos, they create chaos outside. For their false self to exist, there must be equilibrium between the two.

How do they achieve this chaotic supply? By poking and prodding you, repeating patterns of avoidance, abandonment, and neglect until you react. For example, it’s Sunday—a busy day for you with a lot to do. You start doing laundry while they sit around playing video games, chatting with friends, or doing other insignificant things. You ask for help politely, but they ignore you. After a few hours, you ask again—still no change. Eventually, you start complaining about how they’ve failed you, and they label you as nagging. They flip the situation to make it seem like you’re the problem, destroying your weekend while they play the victim.
