Narcissists feel powerful when they make you lose control. Their entire life revolves around feeling powerful because deep down, they feel powerless. Triggering your reactions, fighting with you, and seeing you cry gives them a sense of power. They delude themselves into believing they are capable and significant, reinforcing their false identity. They need constant validation and proof that they are superior, and these mind games provide that validation.
Reason 5: Making You Lose in All Areas of Life
Finally, narcissists want you to lose in all areas of your life. By creating self-doubt and destroying your self-confidence, they shatter your self-esteem into pieces. They fill you with doubt: “Can I do this? Maybe I don’t know how to handle life. Maybe I need constant validation.” They want you to depend on them for everything, asking for their approval and guidance. They revel in watching you fall from independence and confidence to total collapse. Your downfall is their rise. If that’s not evil, I don’t know what is.
