5 Things That are Impossible to do When Living with a Narcissist
Fourth thing: looking and feeling like yourself.
It can become extremely difficult to look your best when you’re living under chronic daily stress. When you’re constantly dealing with a narcissist, your body is permanently stuck in fight-or-flight mode. This constant conflict severely affects your daily sleep, appetite, energy levels, and your stress hormones—like cortisol.
Over time, that massive internal damage starts to show up physically on the outside. You may start noticing dull skin, heavy dark circles under your eyes, sunken eyes, and sudden breakouts. You may experience severe hair shedding, premature graying, and rapid weight changes—either losing too much weight from stress or gaining a lot of weight without eating, because your cortisol levels are entirely out of balance.
You carry an overall exhausted, defeated appearance. You may stand in front of the mirror, look at your own face, and keep wondering why you no longer look like yourself—thinking you’re ugly or not.
