The Fact That Narcissistic Abuse Couldn’t Turn You Evil is Insane

You know what’s the most shocking thing to that narcissist? That they couldn’t turn you into an evil person after putting you through hell. That’s insane to them—and, in general, surprising—because look at what they put you through. Look at what you went through: all that trauma, and you’re still an empathetic person.

What happened to you could have easily changed the way you see people forever. You were lied to until you started questioning your own memory—gaslighting. You were punished for being honest. You were made to feel stupid for trusting. You were called needy for wanting basic affection. You were called dramatic for reacting to cruelty. You were called selfish for having boundaries. And you were called ungrateful for finally getting tired of being mistreated.

You learned the hard way that someone can look you directly in the face, know exactly how much something is hurting you, and still keep doing it—because your pain isn’t enough reason for them to stop. That kind of experience can make a person cold, but somehow you didn’t.

If you went through severe trauma and still kept your heart good, that matters. If you recognize yourself in this—tightening your boundaries while still protecting your core character—then you understand something extraordinary.
