These are the Shocking Stages a Narcissist Experiences When You Walk Away

It may have already been in motion during the relationship. The narcissist covertly speaks ill of you to friends and family members. They may claim you’ve changed, grown increasingly frustrated, or even accuse you of being abusive. Through these subtle insinuations, they gradually manipulate others to align with their skewed perspective.

The ultimate goal is to tarnish your reputation—either to provoke guilt in you or to entice you to reach out and question their version of events. This manipulation plants doubt in you and makes you question whether leaving was the right decision.

It becomes especially challenging when others are unaware of the true dynamics of the abuse you endured and can’t understand why you ended what looked like a seemingly perfect relationship.

This brings us to the concept of flying monkeys. These unwitting individuals aren’t just meant to influence your perspective—they may also be used as instruments of revenge. When the narcissist realizes you’re unwavering in maintaining boundaries and refusing to comply, their vindictiveness escalates. Frustration engulfs them as their attempts to manipulate persistently fail.

In some cases, stalking behavior intensifies. They invade spaces they have no business entering. You may receive unwarranted texts, calls, or messages, leaving you confused about why they continue to intrude.
