They’ll also hold your past mistakes over your head with a bizarre sense of glee. While they’re at it, they’ll embellish wherever they see fit and run with anything they can latch onto if it serves to make you look or sound like the awful human being they’re desperately trying to convince others you are.

They’ll also take great pleasure in honing in on your vulnerabilities, with the deliberate intent of causing you to doubt and second-guess yourself and question your own worth. In other words, they’ll deliberately manufacture and then amplify feelings of guilt, shame, fear, inadequacy, and insecurity within you for no other reason than to keep you in line and feeling inferior.
